Best iPad Deals Right Now: M3 Air, Pro, Mini & Budget Picks
Looking for the best iPad deals? Discover top discounts on the M3 iPad Air, iPad Mini, and M5 Pro. Find the perfect Apple tablet for your budget today!
You can officially stop waiting for Black Friday. Right now, the 11-inch M3 iPad Air is sitting at a cool $499 at major retailers like Walmart and Target. That is a significant psychological and financial barrier broken for a device that is essentially a professional-grade machine in everything but name. While Apple enthusiasts often fixate on the "latest and greatest," this specific deal represents the absolute sweet spot of the current tablet market.
If you have been hovering over the "buy" button for months, the landscape has finally shifted in your favor. We are seeing aggressive pricing across the board—from the entry-level models that are perfect for kids to the M5-powered Pros that can outperform most laptops. But navigating these deals requires more than just looking at the price tag; it is about knowing which iPad fits your lifestyle and which ones are just expensive distractions.
The Quick Summary: Which iPad Should You Buy Today?
Best Overall Value: The 11-inch M3 iPad Air ($499). It supports Apple Intelligence, works with the best accessories, and is powerful enough to last five years or more.
Best for the Budget-Conscious: The 11th-gen iPad ($299). It is the ultimate family tablet for streaming and homework, provided you do not care about the newest AI features.
Best for the Frequent Traveler: The iPad Mini ($474). It is the gold standard for reading and one-handed use, now with the power to handle the Apple Pencil Pro.
Best for the Power User: The 11-inch M5 iPad Pro ($936). A beast of a machine for those who genuinely want to ditch their laptop for a high-end creative canvas.
The M3 iPad Air: The Sweet Spot for Almost Everyone
Best For: College students, remote workers, and anyone looking for a "forever" tablet.
This is the deal that should be at the top of your radar. While Apple recently pushed out the M4 iPad Air, the M3 model remains widely available at third-party retailers for about $500. For that price, you are getting a tablet that is compatible with the latest Magic Keyboard and supports Apple Intelligence—the suite of AI features that Apple is banking on for the future of iPadOS.
The M3 chip is still overkill for 90% of tablet users. Whether you are editing 4K video for social media, running intensive multitasking sessions with Stage Manager, or just opening eighty tabs in Safari, the M3 does not break a sweat. If you step up to the 13-inch M3 model, currently around $699, you are essentially getting a massive digital canvas that rivals the screen real estate of a MacBook Air for significantly less money.

My Take: Do not get distracted by the M4 Air unless you absolutely need the newest display tech or a slightly thinner profile. Saving $50 to $100 by opting for the M3 model is the smartest move you can make right now. It is a future-proof device that offers 95% of the experience of the brand-new model at a much more palatable price.
The 11th-Generation iPad: The Reliable Workhorse
Best For: Younger students, grandparents, and secondary household use.
The base-model iPad is the everyman of the tablet world. Recently updated to include 128GB of base storage (finally!), this model is currently hovering around $299. It features the A16 Bionic chip, which is plenty fast for the basics: Netflix, Zoom calls, email, and casual gaming.
However, there is a catch you need to be aware of. This is the only modern iPad that does not support the upcoming Apple Intelligence features. If you are looking forward to AI-driven writing tools or the new Siri, you will find yourself left out in the cold with this model.
My Take: Despite the lack of AI support, $299 for a 128GB iPad is an incredible bargain. It is the perfect "first iPad" for a child or a dedicated device for the kitchen or living room. It is dependable, the battery life is stellar, and it handles the core iPad experience beautifully. If you just want a screen that works, this is the one.
The iPad Mini: Portability Meets Professional Power
Best For: Commuters, avid e-readers, and digital note-takers on the go.
The iPad Mini is often the most misunderstood device in the lineup. At $474, it feels expensive for its size, especially when compared to the larger iPad Air. But to judge the Mini by its screen size is to miss the point entirely. This is the only high-performance tablet that truly fits in a jacket pocket or a small purse.
The 2024 update brought the A17 Pro chip and Apple Pencil Pro support, meaning this tiny device is now a legitimate tool for digital artists and students who prefer handwriting their notes. It is also, hands down, the best e-reader on the market. If you find the Kindle a bit too limited and a full-sized iPad too heavy for bed-time reading, the Mini is your goldilocks device.
My Take: The current $25 discount isn't huge, but the Mini rarely sees the massive price cuts that the larger models enjoy. You buy the Mini because you value the form factor. If you are a frequent flyer who wants to watch movies without occupying your entire tray table, or a doctor or contractor who needs a powerful tool that fits in a lab coat pocket, the Mini is worth every penny.
The iPad Pro: For Those Who Demand the Absolute Best
Best For: Professional photographers, video editors, and those using a tablet as their primary computer.
The M5 iPad Pro is a masterpiece of engineering. With its incredibly thin design and the best display Apple has ever put on a mobile device, it is a luxury item through and through. Right now, you can find the 11-inch model for about $936, a roughly $60 discount off its retail price.
The Pro models are defined by their ProMotion displays (super smooth 120Hz scrolling) and their sheer processing power. If you are a creative professional using apps like Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro, the M5 chip provides a level of headroom that ensures you will never see a loading bar.
My Take: I will be honest—most people do not need the iPad Pro. It is a stunning piece of hardware, but for the average person, the M3 or M4 Air provides an almost identical experience for hundreds of dollars less. You should only spring for the Pro if your work actually pays for it, or if you are a true display snob who cannot live without the deepest blacks and highest contrast of the Pro's OLED screen.
The Bottom Line
The current market for iPads is surprisingly consumer-friendly. Between the clearance of M3 models and the early discounts on the M5 and M4 lines, there has never been a better time to upgrade.
If you are paralyzed by choice, go with the 11-inch M3 iPad Air. It is the most balanced device Apple has made in years, and at $499, it is a steal. If you need something for the kids, grab the 11th-gen base model for $299. And if you live your life on the move, that iPad Mini is waiting to become your new favorite travel companion.
Regardless of which path you choose, these deals prove that you do not need a holiday to find a price that makes sense. Happy shopping!
